Governor Terence R. McAuliffe appointed Lindsay P. Reames to the position of Assistant Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry. Lindsay most recently served as Manager of Animal Care & Sustainability for Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association, leading their animal care and sustainability initiatives. Previously she served as Assistant Director of Governmental Relations for Virginia Farm Bureau Federation. In this role she gained a wealth of experience serving as an agriculture policy advocate representing the economic interests of Virginia farmers at the legislative and executive branches of government.
Lindsay will provide leadership to several significant, high-profile policy and programmatic initiatives within the Secretariat. Lindsay earned her Master of Public Administration and her Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Tech. She was named the Virginia Tech College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Outstanding Young Alumni in Agriculture and Applied Economics.
Lindsay was among the 10th generation to be raised on her family’s Century Farm in Loudoun County, VA. She and her family own and operate a farm raising beef cattle, corn, soybeans and hay in Amelia County, VA.
